Safe-edge technology
Design

The unique structure of our safe edge incorporates the welding together of two different types of materials. Top rail material being a PVC type compound that offers strength and rigidity to the interlocking “T” section-part of the extrusion. This controls the unwanted stretch and elongation of the edge so there is no shrinkage after fitting
The strength of the top section makes sure that no damage to the copper contact surfaces can occur during the fitting of the safe edge to the bottom lathe. It’s rigidity also allows for ease of fitting to the bottom lathe, so no lubrication is require to slide the edge on the lathe when fitting.
Our tests have shown that the Cronapress Safe Edge is 3 times more sensitive than the current market leading safe edge. With a sensitivity of between 8 – 10 Newtons on an 80mm impact zone, the Cronapress Safe Edge is well ahead of the competition.
The Cronapress Safe Edge comes in standard lengths starting at 2500mm and going up to 6000mm. The door assembler simply cuts the parent length to the required size of the bottom lathe and then inserts the connector end bungs. You now have a working safe edge.
The simple and robust construction of the edge, makes for easy on-site fitting. This makes damage repairs easy to complete without having to wait for factory cut and sealed units to arrive. This means that repairs can be made on the same day without the need for a prior site measurement survey to take place.
Cronapress Safe Edge has been impact tested to in excess of 1 million cycles with no detrimental effects on wear or compromise on performance. This would equate to 685 years of usage at the rate of 4 cycles per day/ 365 days per year!
Bespoke sections can be produced to suit customer designs if required. Cronapress Ltd extrude all of the flexible sections, so the production controls of the safe edge remain under our controls. With 100% inspection throughout the five manufacturing processes, you can be assured that safe edge quality is of the highest order.
