Cronapress was developed
from an idea Mr S.G. McCrone had in the late forties.
To manufacture a Contact Strip which was capable of
activating an alarm system.
Manufacture
commenced on a part time basis during 1948, moving
to Crosthwaite near Kendal during 1956 to place
the company on a full time footing.
The business was sold in
1989 and immediately incorporated as Cronapress
Co. Ltd. This proved to be an unsatisfactory
venture for the new owners, who within 18 months
were looking for a prospective buyer.
Mr C.M. Butler realising
the potential of the business made the decision to
purchase the company, changing it's name to Cronapress
Ltd.
Assuring the present staff
of the company's future, he then looked into the
possibility of moving the business onto the Kendal
Business Park, which he accomplished in 1991.
With the company attaining
accreditation to BS 5750 Part 2 1987 in the spring
of 1994. Mr Butler then moved the company,
in August of that year, to Guiseley, Leeds where
larger premises within the Ennell Group complex were
available. This
move allowed Mr Butler to utilise facilities and
staff to provide a more efficient service to customers
in today's market. Subsequently the National
Quality Assurance accreditation was updated
and Cronapress were awarded their ISO 9001:2000 certificate
in 2001 thus ensuring the continuation of high standards.
The product is unique and
has customers throughout the U.K. Overseas
sales play a predominant part, with Hong Kong, at
the forefront. Customers
include H.M. Government, Metropolitan Police, Customs
and Excise, Passenger Transport and many more, with
sheltered housing being a very active customer from
local authorities.
Today Cronapress
is still at the leading edge of technology
within the field of continuous alarm contact
strip, Cronapress Strip is now available in
a variety of colours and finishes so as to remain
an
unobtrusive part of modern decor yet retaining
it's functionality as an alarm call point.
